One Trip, Two Trip...
I start off my road trip to Walla Walla a little late in the day. Yours truly is not exactly a morning person, plus there always seems to be some pressing matters that push you to get in the road an hour later than originally planned. A last minute run to the bank, a short(ish) lunch with an old friend who is rarely in town... You get the picture. I hop on the road and begin my solo journey. I'm only an hour into driving when I start getting drowsy. Not a good sign. Pop some sunflower seeds and turn on absurdly loud pop music. In lieu of a glass of Champagne, it'll set you just right. I started this year with a goal to discover the best of life. Since then, I passed my certified sommelier exam, traveled through Napa and Sonoma, and bought a one way ticket to New York City. Given the circumstances, plenty of room to explore.
I enter Walla Walla with high hopes and a full bladder. After checking into the hotel, I check out downtown and set my sights on Brassier Four for dinner. I meet Robert, my exemplary server and wine buyer of the place. He focuses about 60% of his wine list on imported wine and just 15% on the local fare. That 15% is extremely well curated and the prices? Incredibly reasonable.
That's it for me tonight! On to wine tastings tomorrow :)
